St. Patrick's Day Centerpiece

Use some items from around the house

By Jen Schorr March 14, 2019

St. Patrick's Day is coming up this coming weekend, and in honor of it, I've come up with a centerpiece that you and your child can easily make with a few pipe cleaners and a few items from around your house.

Supplies Needed:

Pipe Cleaners (1 each of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple)

Craft Foam or sponges (you'll need 2)

White Packing Peanuts (you can also use white pom-poms or cotton balls)

Glue

Directions:

1.  Begin by lining up your pipe cleaners in rainbow order:  red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple (I was missing a purple pipe cleaner, so I left it out)

2.  Leave the red pipe cleaner it's normal length, but make each other color about a half inch shorter than the previous color (Cut 1/2" off the orange, 1" off the yellow, 1 1/2" off the green, etc.)

3.  Place one end of all the pipe cleaners in one piece of foam, and then bend them into the rainbow shape, placing the other end in the second piece of foam.

4.  Cover the foam in glue, and put your packing peanuts all over the foam to create clouds.  Do it on all sides of the foam, just leaving the bottom flat with no "clouds".

You're done!  You could surprise your children on St. Patrick's Day by placing a few chocolate gold coins at the end of the rainbow!
