We Love our Southern Utah Librarians: Meet Amanda!

Amanda is a Children's Librarian at the Hildale Branch

By Gwendolyn Dattage, August 1, 2018

Southern Utah has some pretty incredible Librarians and I am excited to tell you about all of them! They do so much for our kiddos and really provide a great service to all of Southern Utah. Today I want you to meet one of our Washington County Children's Librarians.

Meet Amanda

Amanda has been a librarian for sixteen years! She is currently the Children's librarian at the Hildale branch and loves working there.

Amanda's favorite book is Miss Nelson Is Missing! By James Marshall. I absolutely loved that book growing up and had forgotten about it! I need to find it to read to my own little kids!

She loves being a children's librarian and said the best thing about having that job is getting to discover all the new books as soon as they come to the library. I can't even begin to imagine how exciting it would be to get to look through all the new books as they come to the library. That is a lot of books though, I can't even keep up with the books that have been there forever!

Outside of work Amanda loves to garden and do crafting with metal and paper. On the weekend she loves putting puzzles together, 3D are puzzles are her favorite! I love a good puzzle, that is my kind of weekend!

Growing up she actually struggled with enjoying reading. Amanda did not know how to read with her dyslexia for a long time so she tried to avoid reading when she was a child. Now she loved reading and all kinds of books!

Amanda would tell children everywhere, "You are an amazing individual that can do anything you truly desire. BE AMAZING!"

If you haven't met Amanda, go visit her at the Hildale Branch and ask her to help you find a book. She knows about all the good ones that no one knows about!
