Southern Utah has some pretty incredible Librarians and I am excited to tell you about all of them! They do so much for our kiddos and really provide a great service to all of Southern Utah. Today I want you to meet one of our Washington County Children's Librarians.
Meet Suzanne |
Suzanne has been a librarian for 6 months and already loves it! She is the Children's librarian at the Springdale Branch.
She said the very best thing about being a children's librarian is reading to kids. Kids make the best people to read to because they just get so into the books and love the story plots and fun characters. Her favorite children's book is Horton Hears a Who by Dr Seuss and The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.
Outside of work her hobbies include hiking, biking, running, swimming, reading, yard work, watching Chicago Blackhawks hockey games. On the weekend she likes to take long walks with her husband and their dog. Suzanne really does enjoy being outdoors.
I asked if she thought there was anything about herself that children would find interesting, she said, "I worked in the garbage and hazardous waste industry for 15 years!" I think it is so neat to hear what librarians did before they started being a librarian.
As a child, growing up, her favorite book was A Present from a Bird by Jay Williams.
Suzanne wants children everywhere to always be curious and open to learning. I love this, I hope that children never stop being curious or having the desire to learn.
If you haven't met Suzanne, go visit her at the Springdale Branch and ask her to help you find a book. She knows about all the good ones that no one knows about!
